Queen’s University Belfast is delighted to offer a full scholarship to a student who is a registered asylum-seeker in the UK, and who will be starting their full-time undergraduate studies at the university.

Queen’s University Belfast is a public research university in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The university received its charter in 1845 as “Queen’s College, Belfast” and opened four years later. The university offers academic degrees at various levels, with approximately 300 degree program available.

The university is a member of the Russell Group of research intensive universities, the European University Association, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Universities UK and Universities Ireland. Queen’s University Belfast is affiliated with two Nobel laureates and one Turing Award laureate.

Worth of Asylum Seekers Scholarship

The Asylum Seekers Scholarship will cover the cost of tuition and provide an £8,000 award to support costs affiliated with education and attending Queen’s University Belfast for each year of study for the duration of the program.

Eligibility for Asylum Seekers Scholarship

  • To be qualified for Asylum Seekers Scholarship, each candidate must be a registered asylum seeker in the UK and must be currently resident in Northern Ireland, to be regarded for this scheme.
  • You must first apply for, and receive an offer of admission for the academic year 2022-23 to an undergraduate degree program at Queen’s University Belfast to be qualified.
  • Each candidate must have optional or limited leave to remain in the UK, be dependant of someone with optional or limited leave to remain as a result of an application for refugee-status, or the candidate or his/her parent/guardian have submitted an asylum application and not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application.
  • To be qualified for Asylum Seekers Scholarship, applicant must not be able to access mainstream UK student funding due to your immigration status.
  • Note that you are required to meet any academic and language conditions attached to your offer as stated in your offer letter.
