Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship in Germany welcomes applications from foreign students for the 2022 scholarship programs.

The basic funding for international candidates does not vary in content from that for German internationals. You will get financial aid for a high-performance degree program, a wide-ranging seminar program that reinforces your social and professional skills, and personal on-the-spot advice from about 470 lecturers.

Worth of Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship

  • Individual assistance by an on-site relationship lecturer is another advantage of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship. Every year up to 40 candidates are awarded the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship.
  • They are paid a monthly sum of EUR 750 in Bachelor’s, Magister, Diplom, state examination programs or EUR 850 or, correspondingly, when undertaking a Master’s program. Additionally, expenses for health insurance are financed and scholars with a child get a family stipend of EUR 276.
  • The scholarship award does not have to be paid back.

Eligibility for Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship

  • Candidates come from Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
  • Candidates in any subject area are qualified to apply, if they display exceptional school or academic merit, desire to study in Germany, are devoted to the principles of social democracy and live by them.
  • Scholarship awards are granted to highly-performing candidates and include a wide-ranging seminar program to assist in enhancing the candidates’ social capabilities and academic skills.
  • The applicants’ abilities and personalities must demonstrate excellent promise for an academic or professional career. Also, applicants are expected to demonstrate devotion to the principles of social democracy.

How to Apply for Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship

Four steps lead to funding:

  • Step 1: Simply complete the online application . They will ask you a number of questions about your professional and family background – no additional documents are needed. If you feel uncertain or if you require assistance in advance of the application, you can get in touch with their approximately 480 liaison lecturers. (Note: Please remember the deadlines and dates!) You can get a sample here.   • Step 2: If you are qualified for a scholarship award, they will ask for further documents from you by e-mail: two recommendation letters from university professors and also details about your previous training and your socio-political devotion. First-year candidates (not master’s candidates) in the first semester must submit two reports from past teachers.
  • Step 3: If you are selected, they would like to get to know you individually. They ask you to two interviews: one with a liaison professor from your department and the other with a member of their selection committee. You can get tips for getting ready for the interviews here.
  • Step 4: The selection committee takes the final decision on admission to one of their programs. The selection committee meets numerou times a year.

Application requirements:

  • exceptional school or academic merit (where needed: first graded evidences of academic accomplishment)
  • social and political participation and devotion to the principles of social democracy
  • motivated, responsible, reliable persons willing to get aboard with the Foundation’s network
  • adequate knowledge of German, although the programs are delivered in English. This means a ‘Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang’ of a minimum of DSH level 2, a ‘Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache’ of a minimum of level 4 or a ‘Zertifikat C 1’ by a Goethe Institute
