The John Gilbert Vause Memorial Scholarship award encourages candidates who want to start an undergraduate degree program in the School of Medicine for the school year 2021/2022.

This scholarship award is in memory of Lieutenant John Gilbert Vause of the 15th West Yorkshire Regiment, who passed away in the First Battle of the Somme in the Great War.

Benefits of John Gilbert Vause Memorial Scholarship

Eligible candidates will get up to £500 for an undergraduate degree program at the University of Leeds for the school year 2021/2022.

£500 granted to the highest-ranking MBChB University of Leeds candidate on MSc Medical Imaging. £500 granted to the highest-ranking MBChB University of Leeds candidate on BSc Cardiovascular Medicine. No candidate will get two awards; the candidate will always get the greater monetary award and the second award will be re-awarded to the next suitable student.

Admissible Requirements: To be eligible, the candidates have to meet all the following/given conditions:

  • Only applicable to intercalating University of Leeds students enrolled in MSc Medical Imaging and BSc Cardiovascular Medicine.

How to Apply for John Gilbert Vause Memorial Scholarship

To apply for the John Gilbert Vause Memorial Scholarship award, candidates have to take admission to an undergraduate degree program at the University of Leeds. After getting enrolled, applicants will be automatically give consideration for this academic award. For the aim of granting awards to medical students who are intercalating, the School ranks candidates within the year cohort based on the score attained in the most recent Integrated Summative Examination (ISE). Candidates in Year 1-4 of the MBChB program take ISEs at the end of every year of study. It is the highest ranking in the relevant ISE which decides the beneficiaries of the above awards.

  • Supporting Credentials: Have to submit degree certificates, academic transcripts, and CV with your application.
  • Admission Criteria: For taking admission, candidates have to satisfy the entry requirements of their selected program.
  • Language Conditions: Candidates from outside the home nation will often need to meet certain English language requirements to be able to school at the university.

Conditions

Beneficiaries of the awards will have to write to the donor to thank them/the family where required and to state what program and research they are taking. In the future, beneficiaries may also be asked to provide the School with a yearly update of their career. Beneficiaries are asked to recognize the award in oral presentations and project reports.
